Roche – new cobas Chlamydia/Gonorrhoeae test

Chlamydia & Gonorrhoeae

One of the most sexually transmitted infectious diseases are Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG).

This diseases refer to Clinical Chemistry and Urine testing

In current research Roche Diagnostics presents the new cobas CT/NG test working with cobas 4800, 6800 and 8800 systems.

With a Multiplex-Real-Time-PCR this test can give simultaneously information about both germs (CT and NG) and makes diagnosis way easier.

 

 

 

 

About Chlamydia

Infection with Chlamydia trachomatis is according to European Centre for Disease Prevention the STD with the highest amount of reported cases.

Most concerned are woman between the age of 15 to 20. Usually the infection itself doesn´t show noticeable indication.

But the tiny bacteria are easy to detect and treated with the right Clinical or Urinal Test.

If not treated Chlamydia can lead to infertility.

 

About Gonorrhoeae

An infection with the bacteria neisseria gonorrhoeae is a common STD in Europe.

Usually Men notice diverse indication and see a doctor for advice and treatment.

Unfortunately many infections with women are often unseen and can lead to inflammation in the pelvis area and infertility.
